So…what’s new?

It’s that time again where I have to sit and compress a busy month into a few blog entries, so what’s new?

Well, outside of work, I’ve moved house, in one day. Pretty impressive if I do say so myself. Just short of 100 miles and copious amounts of boxes later we are finally moved in. I was worried about having a long commute from Bradford into Leeds but, it was only 10 minutes more than my commute from Headingley – happy days. The only downside is that it’s 10 minutes more of Chris Moyles (if you’ve been reading my blogs, I’m sure you know I don’t like him by now).

So what’s new inside of work? We’ve had quite a lot of bespoke work through, as well as a little project where we gave someone’s complete branding a shake-up. Seems to have worked very well so far, doubling open and click through rates on emails, not forgetting to mention his overall brand looks a lot more appealing – safe to say I’m very happy with how it’s gone so far.

I’ve also noticed a few guys on here have mentioned the summer work experience programme that the Uni offer.  I’ll tell you now, it has my seal of approval. Granted, it’s a few weeks out of your summer that you would rather spend seeing double on cheap booze with your mates, but seriously – it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.

I got a placement on a new festival – The World Curry Festival, in marketing – and it’s the experience I gained in those 12 weeks which got me this job now.

To save you a bit of effort, here’s the link to the summer placement site. The change you will see over that short period of time will be vast. I went from being a 19-year-old, beer-drinking, rugby-playing student… to a 19-year-old, beer-drinking, rugby-playing student with work experience – and it’s that bit of experience that could change your life, trust me.
