James Robertson-Dunn, BTech Hons Civil & Structural Engineering 1973, MSc Transportation 1978 

 

James graduated from Bradford in 1973 with a 2.1 honours degree in Civil & Structural Engineering. In 1974 he returned to Bradford on a part time basis and in 1976 was awarded an MSc in Transportation Engineering.

He went on to become a chartered Municipal Engineer in 1975 and a chartered Civil Engineer in 1977. He worked in the highways departments of a number of local authorities between 1973 and 1980 before taking up a position as a Structural Development Engineer for Thermalite Ltd, a building materials company. He would later go on to join the board of Thermalite Ltd with responsibility for Strategic Planning. In 1988, James left Thermalite Ltd in order to acquire London Chemical Company, a company which specialised in the manufacture and supply of chemical based products for the building industry. After selling London Chemical Company in 1995, he set up Ardun Ltd, a property investment company which quickly diversified in to property development and property management specialising in the provision of quality accommodation for university students. James took up retirement in 2012 and joined the University of Bradford Alumni Association Executive in 2018.
