Many young people in Bradford look after family members or friends who need extra care. They may not think of themselves as carers, saying, ‘I just help them out with their shopping and have a chat’, or ‘I help my mum because she has mental health problems’. In reality this can be thought of as unpaid caring work and often leaves young people feeling in need of some support themselves.
This great project has been set up to provide support for young people (aged 16-25) who look after a relative or friend. This includes caring for someone with mental health problems, addictions, or someone who is frail or disabled. Have a look at their flyer below for more information on how to access the service.
