Bradford Archaeologists investigate remains on coast of Rousay

students clearing the site at RousayBradford Archaeologists have joined forces with Orkney College are investigating remains from a 10,000 year old settlement along the coast of Rousay before it disappears into the sea.  They are using the latest laser scanning technology to find and record prehistoric and Viking remains.

Steve Dockrill, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology and Archaeological Sciences said:  ” The past is providing information relevant to present day problems associated with global warming.”

Dr Julie Bond, also a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology and Archaeological Sciences said: “This research is showing the way ahead for recording world-class archaeology in the face of sea level rises”.
