A new Centre for Managerial Excellence was launched at an event for over 100 business leaders and research academics in June 2011. The Centre is based in the University’s School of Management, ranked top in the North by the Financial Times.
The guest speaker was Aleem Sheikh, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships with BP and a member of BP’s global leadership team opened the evening’s events. Academics from the School gave presentations on current research.
Professor Jackie Ford, head of the Centre for Managerial Excellence, said “The centre can help businesses to carry out research in four key areas – enterprise and innovation; strategic adaptation; leadership and talent management; and finance. “
“We hope businesses will talk to us about how the research we are doing could help them. They could take part in some of our ongoing research projects or we could tailor research to their particular needs.”
