To code or not to code in qual data analysis

Nick Hopwood’s latest post is a must-read for the qualitative methodologists among us. What I love about this harkens to the beginning of my doctoral research when someone who should’ve known better told me that what I proposed to do was impossible without coding. Whereas, I was daring to suggest that there are other ways of meaningfully analysing data that do not reduce the findings to codes.
