Chemistry at Work Event for Year 8

STEM at Bradford collaborated with STEMNET to run sessions at schools in Halifax and Wakefield.

Groups of Year 8 students were taken through workshops on chemistry in the workplace and careers in chemistry, designed to make the industry seem less inaccessible and to highlight the broad range of careers that involve chemistry skills and knowledge to some degree.

The two primary career pathways covered were forensics and pharmaceutical engineering, demonstrating the broad range of job types and career areas available to science students.

The days proved to be a great success at providing pupils with information on science careers and at opening their minds to the possibility of continuing science studies. Please speak to James if you would like to arrange an outreach activity like this one at your school.
