Australia!

Hi everyone!

My name is Oliver, currently in my second year studying a BSc in Digital Media.

I’m originally from a small town called Buckley in North Wales and it takes about 3 hours by car to get to Bradford, the same goes for if I get a train from the next town, Flint.

The things I enjoyed the most studying at Bradford were the wealth of facilities the University had to offer, I never had to wait to take out a camera and there is always somewhere you can edit thanks to the various different Mac labs on campus. I also love the international feel you get being on campus; people come from all over the world to study at Bradford and it’s always great to hear all different stories from international students plus you get a worldwide address book.

This passion led me to look into going on a student exchange. I wasn’t 100% sure on where I wanted to go but I had been thinking about it since first year; then in September there was a chance to study for 6 months in Australia. Well I’ve never been before, it’s really hot there and it’s a different way of life, so I jumped on it instantly. Fast forward to now and I’m typing this about 10,000 miles away from Bradford, in Australia.

Safe to say this past week has been pretty crazy. I can’t help but think about the journey all the international students make to Bradford, albeit mostly for 3 years or more, but it’s a good feeling to be coming from an international student’s perspective this time round.

Home for the next few months!

So I’m studying on the Bachelor of Multimedia Studies course here at Central Queensland University (CQU) in Rockhampton, the beef capital of Australia. The course shares many similarities to my course back in Bradford which makes for a smooth transition for when classes begin on Monday. For the international students here you also get the option to study Outdoor Pursuits which teaches the students scuba diving, sailing and a few other things.

I can’t wait to start. See you soon!
