Why go to University? Which one out of the hundreds across the country? and dare I say even the world!
I have asked myself these questions so many times before making the decision and finally deciding higher education was definitely for me as I wanted to enhance my future employability and skills.
Not to mention attending several University open days to get a feel for them such as Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and the University of Bradford including visiting the School of Management. The application process was time consuming and long as I had a fair few attempts at writing the perfect personal statement to sell myself to my universities choices on UCAS (the organisation that Universities use to recruit potential students). The hard work paid off after securing university offers from all 5 of my university choices.
So why did I choose Bradford! What did I like about the university and about the School of Management itself? I liked the nice buildings, friendly and welcoming staff whilst being shown around on the open day about 4 years ago.
Most of all I liked the sound of the Accounting and Finance degree at the School of Management especially after visiting it, reading about the course and astounding reputation that the School of Management holds through seeing this on the brochure and website. I knew I could see myself studying there.
I also liked that studying my course gave an opportunity to do a placement year which is also one of the biggest reasons I chose to study at the University. There were not many universities out there with my course choice that offered a placement year!
My biggest tips for students choosing a university are to make sure you undertake your research on the university itself, your course, modules, whether you have the chance of doing a placement etc. and to go visit the university, accommodation and get a feel for it!
I would also have a look on this great link on UCAS of which universities to choose.
I would also suggest that you Google the universities you are thinking of going to, read online reviews about the universities including the Guardians Unviersity guide
After all that decision making you just need to do the following!
