When my friends and family ask me what I do, the general response is “online marketing”, and then I come to an abrupt end. From experience I’ve learnt that if you’re not from this particular field then:
A) You won’t be that interested in what I have to say, and often fake interest with a passive smile
B) You won’t understand…
Therefore this post will bypass anything to do with the usual 9-5 work, and provide you with a little insight into the extra-curricular work activities, the fun stuff!
Gingerbread House Competition
Just to add a little fun to the office, and to encourage the festive spirit, our department held a gingerbread house competition (adults can play with food too!). Below is a piccy of one of the winning entries, unfortunately mine was too shameful to showcase

Warehouse Tour
If you happen to travel along Thornton Road in Bradford, you’re likely to see the FGH warehouse, at one million square foot it was once the largest in Europe! As part of an induction we took a tour around this vast building, and I can only describe it as very reminiscent of Monsters Inc…. over-head tracks and production lines galore, a tad eerie in places too!

Christmas Party
A Christmas party is mandatory, an opportunity to let off steam and really un-wind and escape from the pressure of Christmas sales and promotions. Our party was held at Harewood House in Leeds. It’s safe to say the wine was flowing and spirits were high!

London Plus Size Fashion Week
In February this year I was lucky enough to attend London Plus Size Fashion Week, which was similar to the actual Fashion Week, but protruding collar bones were replaced with curves. I attended this event as part of the www.curvissa.co.uk team, helping out on the stand, and mingling with bloggers. Staying in a posh hotel with all expenses paid was a perk too!

Hawaiian Party
The Hawaiian party was a chance to celebrate the Summer! The men rocked their hideous Hawaiian shirts, whilst the women looked fabulous in floral and exotic prints! The Midland Hotel in Bradford was the Venue of choice, a perfect location for after-party clubbing!
Watch out for the shark!
The social aspects of work are definitely not something that you want to miss. If given the opportunity to partake in anything out of hours, get stuck in!
