Just so members are in no doubt, below is the meeting request sent to HR on 11 July, asking for a discussion about the new contracts being issued to staff.
In addition, below is a similar request sent by UCU on 17 July, which was only responded to this morning (20 July)
For members to be told that the Unions are lying (and have not requested a meeting) is not only an attack on our integrity, but is slander – and is an allegation that we will be challenging in the strongest possible terms.
We do not want to engage in a war of words on this issue, but nor do we want our members to be under any misapprehension about the actions that we have taken on their behalf.
The negotiation of contracts, and the terms and conditions therein, is one of the key roles that Unions undertake and is a role that is agreed between both HR and The Unions.
Please, stand together and remember the words of Joe Hill:
“There is power in a factory, power in the land
Power in the hands of a worker
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don’t stand
There is power in a Union”
