Introducing your new web content editor

Welcome from the University of Bradford web team’s newest member!

On the blog I mainly want to provide you with tips on writing for the web and producing content for your corner of the website, but for now – having joined the web team just in time for the Christmas party season – I want to take a moment to introduce myself to you.

What a change

Katie Hall’s the name, and until this month news reporting and newsreading was the game. I’ve spent eight years working as a journalist for radio stations including Real Radio Yorkshire (sadly now consigned to the history books), Radio Aire, BBC Radio York and, for the last couple of years, BBC News Online.

The switch from radio to online journalism was an exciting one for me, as for the first time I was writing news for the platform I consumed it on. I also got to work on exciting new projects like the BBC Local Live service for West Yorkshire.

But I jumped at the chance to become the University of Bradford’s web content editor and apply my knowledge and experience to a completely different environment.

What’s a web content editor?

That was a question I got asked a lot before joining the team – I’m still trying to work it out!

So far I’ve created pages on topics as diverse as Dubai and Information Security.

Fancy getting a Bradford degree in Dubai?

As well as working on some big redevelopment projects for specific areas, I’m taking a look at how we can improve and streamline the content on the website as a whole.

I’m also here to help the web community across the University. If you update the website for your school, society or department – or if you want to – I’m here to help you.
