Life as a Business and Management student at the University of Bradford

Nikoletta is in her second year of a Business and Management degree here at The University of Bradford.

Nikoletta, BSc (Hons) Business and Management

My name is Nikoletta Georgiou, I am 19 years old and I come from Greece. I’m a second-year Business and Management Student at the University of Bradford. As well as studying Business and Management full time, I am an executive member of the University’s cheerleading team and the Hellenic and Cypriot Society.

Making my decision

I always knew I wanted to study Business. Since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamt of sitting behind a huge desk in an enormous skyscraper in New York being the CEO of a large multinational corporation.

It was back in middle school when I decided that I wanted to study in the UK. I started gathering information about different universities and which one would fit into my vision best. All of a sudden, a friend of mine came back from England during summer and he was thrilled after his first year at university. We started talking about his past year as a  student and that was when I first heard about the University of Bradford.

A couple of weeks after that, my mother’s friend told us her daughter studied at the University of Bradford too. I thought that was no coincidence and it was the moment I decided where I was going to study Business.

Business and Management at Bradford

It has so far been proven that it was the best decision of my life. My first year has been amazing. I love the modules, especially Marketing, Management and Accounting and I find that everything is so interesting. The facilities have the latest technology when it comes to teaching methods, with projectors and computers.

Also, when it comes to lecturers I was surprised as they are always more than glad to help you with any question you may have. All the academic staff are always there to offer their help and services.

A typical day at University

I wake up early in the morning every day and have a cup of tea and get ready to start my day. Lectures and tutorials last for an hour each and there are breaks between which makes it easier for students to be focused and concentrated. Lectures usually start at 9am but that depends on the timetable.

Support for my future

As I said before, my goal is to become a CEO in a multinational corporation. However, in order to get there, I need the right guidance and through my course I am finding my way to the top.

The Faculty of Management organises the Career Booster Week twice during an academic year. During this week you are entered into the real world of business through workshops and lectures. I always try to attend as many as possible because they are so interesting and helpful, I feel like you cannot miss them.

Coming to Bradford has been the greatest choice I have ever made. The city is so vibrant and full of life. I love to grab a coffee from Starbucks and sit by the huge fountain in Centenary Square. It helps me relax a lot. Being in Bradford in general has completely changed me and my habits for the better and I love it.
