This week, Kameel Khan, Clinical Sciences final year student and one of our Student Career Ambassadors, explains why you should come to the Spring Careers Fair in two weeks time…
People say they have many reasons for wanting to come to university but surely the end goal is to secure that dream job? Well the Career Development Services have arranged an amazing opportunity, to not only see what companies are looking for young talent, but also network with future employers in your chosen field if you’re not graduating this summer.
The graduate careers market is very competitive as you can imagine, so to get this head start will be very advantageous to all year groups. The Career Development Services have Careers fairs throughout the year but the fair in March will focus on subjects from the Faculty of Health Studies, Faculty of Life Sciences and Faculty of Social Sciences, as it is this time of year when many jobs in these areas are recruiting.
The careers fair is everything you would expect and more, with dozens of employers vying for your attention; this opportunity can’t be missed! Previous students have not only secured internships but places of employment through this fair. So if you are like me and want a great graduate job when you leave university, then you can’t afford to miss this fair.
Hopefully I have convinced you to attend.
Date: This year’s Spring Careers Fair will take place on Wednesday 2nd March 2016
Time: From 10:30am-3:30pm
Location: In Student Central.
Look out for more advice next week about getting the best out of a Careers Fair, and if you’d like to know more there’s a Prepare For The Fair workshop on 25th Feb.
