We’re back on campus! What to expect from Careers this year…

Fingers crossed, the worst of the pandemic is over and we can start the 21/22 academic year optimistically. We’re certainly excited in Careers, as we’re back on campus in a newly refurbished space in Student Central, and we’ve also got a new online platform for all our appointments, events and jobs. Here’s a little preview of what to expect, and how to get the best out of our services this year…

3x one-to-one appointment spaces in Careers

The new Careers Quick Queries space in Student Central

Appointments

From Monday 27th September, we’re delighted to be offering face-to-face appointments again. In line with University guidelines, we recommend that you wear a face covering whilst in the Careers space and during your appointment, and hand sanitiser will be available in all appointment spaces. We’re also making sure that we can still talk to anyone who can’t make it in, so we’ll be continuing our remote appointments by phone, video or email.

One-to-one appointment space for longer appointments

We offer quick queries for if you’re just getting started, or are looking for a CV check, 30 min appointments for part-time, placements or other work experience queries, and 45-minute in-depth appointments for applications, career planning, interviews and more. Not forgetting our International Opportunities team who are available to chat about finding and funding for work and study abroad and short international programmes.

Workshops and events

We’re also hosting events on campus again this term, starting with the Part-time Jobs Fair on Weds 6th October and the Graduate Jobs and Placements Fair coming in November (details coming soon).

We’ve also got a packed schedule of webinars and workshops, starting next week with an introduction to finding and applying for part-time jobs as that’s always popular this time of year.
